Miss Lauren Santarelli

Welcome to 8th Grade U.S. History! This will be my second year at Prosper ISD and as an 8th grade U.S. History teacher. I am excited to help students prepare for civic competency, college and their future careers by helping them engage in historical inquiry over material that encompasses various perspectives and cultural values. I will also be coaching 8th grade girls athletics at Reynolds (volleyball, soccer & track).

I absolutely love history, but especially enjoy sharing it with students. Some of my favorite topics in history include, Colonization, Westward Expansion, Jacksonian America, Post Civil War Reconstruction, Gilded Age America, WW2, and Post World WW2 Reconstruction.

I am originally from Colorado Springs, Colorado where I lived for 19 years. Go Broncos! After Colorado, I moved to Jefferson City, Tennessee and graduated with my Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Education from Carson-Newman University. At Carson-Newman University I was a dual sport athlete in both indoor and sand volleyball for four years. After Carson-Newman, I attended Auburn University and received my Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction - History Education. War Eagle! While at Auburn University I wrote my dissertation on the topic of supporting students in the process of disciplined historical inquiry when deliberating over persistent historical issues that contain ethical dimensions.

One thing that my students should know about me is that I love to travel! So far I have been to 28 different countries and will add number 29 this summer. In addition to traveling, I enjoy playing sports, painting and reading historical non-fiction.

I am excited for the 2017-2018 school year and am proud to be apart of the community here in Prosper! Go Eagles!

Please feel free to contact me at any time if you have questions about the material, your child's progress or athletics.
