What is the name of the club? Rogers Middle School National Junior Honor Society

What is the focus of the club? The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is one of the nation's premier organizations established to recognize outstanding middle school students. More than just an honor roll, NJHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character and Citizenship. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since their beginnings in 1929.

What day, time and where does the club meet?

The members meet once a month (members should attend only one of the two meetings).   One monthly meeting will be scheduled for before and after school.  Meetings are typically scheduled for the first Tuesday of every month.  Notifications will be posted in the NJHS Google Classroom page.  Students who are unable to attend the required meeting will need to provide a note from parent or doctor and schedule a make-up meeting with Mrs. Mann.

How does a student join this club?

Membership in the National Junior Honor Society is open to seventh and eighth-grade students who have been at Rogers Middle School for at least one full semester, have attained a cumulative average of at least 94.00% (in core classes) and have not been in ISS or OSS.

Students who are eligible for membership will receive an invitation and a membership application in the month of February. Please review the membership responsibilities and bylaws carefully. For further consideration of membership, students will need to complete the membership application and return it to Mrs. Mann (#821).

Any student who transfers to Rogers and was a member of the NJHS at their previous school is also eligible to transfer their membership based on providing the Sponsor (Mrs. Mann) with a copy of their membership certificate.

What is required once a student is a member of NJHS?

Members must maintain a cumulative average of at least 90% (in core classes) at nine-week grade checks, have not been in ISS or OSS, and completed a minimum of 4 hours of community service every nine weeks.  In addition, members must complete and participate in the school-wide community service outreach programs.
