John A. Baker was born August 6, 1939 in Paris, Lamar County, Texas to Wayne and Dorothy Baker. John is a graduate of Paris High School and Texas A&M University. John then returned to school and graduated in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science with minors in Biology, Chemistry and Math. John’s real estate career began in 1969 in Claremore, Oklahoma and moved into the Dallas area in 1983. The J. Baker Corporation has developed many of the subdivisions in the metro area in the past 25 years. John and his wife, Faye, reside in Claremore, Oklahoma along with their three children and five grandchildren. On their farm, they raise, show and race quarter horses and thoroughbreds. In addition, the Bakers have a large herd of Texas Longhorns. The donation of the land to build the elementary school is the Baker’s way of giving to the community, so the “Little Tykes” can get a great start on their education.
