My name is Amee Childers, and I am so excited to continue working with the fabulous children and parents at Rucker Elementary as your guidance counselor. This is my eighth year serving in Prosper I.S.D. Prior to that I worked as a behavior specialist and taught grades 7-12 English Language Arts. I graduated from West Texas A&M University with a Master of Education in Counseling in 2010 and received my undergraduate degree from there as well.
My family moved to the Prosper area from the panhandle of Texas (Amarillo). I have two amazing children (no bias) –my son graduated from UNT and is pursuing a career working with at risk youth, and my daughter who is starting high school this year keeps me busy with all things sports related. We stay active with sporting events, thrill seeking - roller coasters, zip lining, you name it - and enjoying the great outdoors. They are definitely my inspiration in this journey called life!
I have a passion for helping young people deal with the pressures of our modern world while cultivating servant hearts. It is also my goal to instill understanding and acceptance of self and others, as well as develop positive attitudes and GRIT to promote success both in school and life! If you have any questions or concerns throughout the school year, please do not hesitate to call or come by my office. I look forward to visiting with you!
"A child's life is like a piece of paper on which every person leaves a mark."
