What is the School Health Advisory Council?

A local School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) has been established to assist the District in ensuring that local community values are reflected in the District’s health education instruction.

A majority of the members must be parents of students enrolled in the District and must not be employed by the District. One of those members shall serve as chair or co-chair of the council.  Also, one or more public school teachers, administrators, District students, health-care professionals, members of the business community, law enforcement representatives, senior citizens, clergy, representatives of nonprofit health organizations, or representatives of another group may serve on the council.  The group acts collectively to provide advice to the school district on all aspects of the school health program.
The SHAC shall meet at least four times each year.
