Texas Bluebonnet Reading Award - Grades 3rd-5th
Each year, 20 books are chosen as the "Texas Bluebonnet Award Master List" by the TBA selection committee made up of librarians. If students read a minimum of five books from the current master list (or have the books read aloud to them), they have the opportunity to vote for their favorite title during the month of January. The author of the book receiving the most votes statewide is declared the winner of the Texas Bluebonnet Award.
To be a part of the Rucker Bluebonnet Club, students must submit a short online form.

Mock Caldecott - 2nd grade
During the months of December and January, 2nd grade students will participate in the Mock Caldecott program during their weekly library visit. Together, we will read at least ten new picture books eligible for the American Library Association's most prestigious award for picture books- the Caldecott Award! Students will look at each book and use the Caldecott Award criteria to pick the book they think is most deserving of the 2019 Caldecott Medal which will win the Rucker Mock Caldecott medal. We will come together to watch the live announcement of the Caldecott award at the end of January.
