About our School's Namesake

  • Furr Jack and June Furr

Jack graduated from Prosper in 1946, was a long-time farmer, served on the Farm Bureau Board, and was a Korean War Veteran. Jack valued education and served as a Prosper ISD Board Member from 1971-1980, acting as Board Secretary from 1977-1980.

June also served Prosper ISD as a teacher for 15 years before retiring and returning as a substitute teacher. June came highly recommended, and she was a “sought-after” or 'preferred’ substitute for the district.  Just as when she was a full-time teacher, she was dependable, responsible, and loved children.

All five of the Furr’s children graduated from Prosper ISD, attending grades 1-12.  Two of their children became educators, as did three grandchildren.
