Special Programs FAQ
-
Has there been/ will there be consideration for inclusion of foreign language as a Specials class for all elementary students (separate from dual language program that has limited availability)?
While we would love to expand the program, it requires personnel that can implement it successfully and those are very hard to find.
-
What will be the future location of programs like Dual Language and Pre-K?
Dual language has found its home and it is Rucker Elementary – hopefully that will not change in the foreseeable future. We understand the importance of stability for students and staff, but at the end of the day enrollment will ultimately drive these decisions.
Beginning in the 2023-2024 school year, Prosper ISD will serve our PreK students at the Brenda Calhoun Early Childhood School.
-
Will Prosper begin all day Pre-K for all students?
Prosper started implementing a full day program in the 2020-2021 school year at one campus. The plan is to add a full day program each year until 2025. We are projected to offer a full day PreK program for all qualifying students by the 2025-2026 school year.
-
Where will the special education programs for elementary be located next year? Will we be staying where we are or relocating again.
We are currently in the process of evaluating all of the factors related to the location of centralized programming for special education for next year.
-
Does the district have plans for additional programming specifically for special education?
In special education, we are always looking to evolve and expand our services to meet the unique needs of our students.
-
What resources are available to Special Education parents?
Prosper ISD is fortunate to have a brand new Family Resource Center that is currently housed at what used to be the Mahard Egg Farm building. Parents have access to a library of books, games, visuals, social stories, and additional resources to help. Our Specialists, Mrs. Kugler and Mrs. Foster are available to meet with families to provide support.

What is the location plan for special education programs for elementary? Will we ever get to a point where there is a SPED program at every home campus?
Each year, we work diligently to ensure that locations of centralized programs for our students in special education are carefully considered and stability is maintained as much as possible. As the district grows, we continue to add centralized program locations to meet the needs of our students.
