Ronald Planks is the Director of the Prosper HS & Rogers MS Orchestras. Mr. Planks’ past positions include: Elementary Music Teacher in the Bryan ISD, Co-Director of the Memorial MS & HS Orchestras in the Spring Branch ISD, Head Director of the Williams HS Orchestra in the Plano ISD, as well as, the Founder & Director of the Strings of Color Community Youth Orchestra – Plano, TX. With 25 years of teaching experience, Mr. Planks’ orchestras have consistently received UIL Sweepstakes Awards; while his classroom and private students have consistently been placed in All-Region, All-Area, and All-State Orchestras. His students have also gone on to participate in several National and State Honor Orchestras, while also receiving high honors at local and state Solo & Ensemble Contests. While serving on various committees at the state and district levels, such as the Violin and Viola All-State Audition Panels, All-State Chairing Committees, Multicultural Committees, Faculty Council, and Site-Based Improvement Committees, Mr. Planks has been able to positively impact students in his music classroom and school-wide. Mr. Planks has received several awards and recognitions that include: The PTA Lifetime Achievement Award, a Diversity Award Nomination, and most recently, a Plano ISD Education Foundation Grant for creating a program to reach at-risk teen males: E.T.H.O.S – Ethnic Teens Honoring & Owning Success. Mr. Planks is excited about joining the award-winning Prosper ISD fine-arts team and is equally excited about the addition of orchestra to this long-standing heritage of excellence in music making.
