Mrs. Julie Duncan
Mrs. Duncan has been teaching elementary music for eight years. Prior to teaching at Baker, Mrs. Duncan taught PK-5 music in Lubbock ISD and K-5 music in McKinney ISD. She received her Bachelor of Music Education degree from Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas and a Master of Music Education degree from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas. While attending Texas Tech University she was employed with the West Texas Children's Chorus where she instructed kindergarten through second grade musicianship and choir classes.
Mrs. Duncan has received both her OAKE endorsed Kodály certification from the Plano Kodály Training Program as well as her AOSA endorsed Orff-Schulwerk certification from Southern Methodist University.
Besides teaching elementary music, Mrs. Duncan conducts the Baker Eagle Choir open to all fifth grade students as well as Baker students participating in NTCC (North Texas Children's Choir), a select group of auditioned fifth graders. She also coaches the Music Memory UIL team at Baker. Mrs. Duncan is also a certified Kindermusik instructor with the Smart Start Music program.
In her spare time, Mrs. Duncan enjoys shopping, traveling, cooking, reading, and watching Netflix with her husband, Jared, and their three cats, Ringo, Sinatra, and Socks. She also sings with the Dallas Symphony Chorus. Mrs. Duncan is looking forward to sharing the joy of music to each and every student at Baker.
