Degrees and Certifications:
My name is Michele Emerson, and I'm a special education paraprofessional in the resource room. I've been in education for 13 years--12 years in special education and one year as a P.E. aide. I graduated from the University of Montevallo in Montevallo, Alabama, with an English major and journalism minor. I spent several years in newspaper reporting/editing and corporate marketing, followed by a stint as a full-time mom. When our son started kindergarten, I began subbing at his school, and within a few months I knew that special education was my niche. Helping kids find academic, social, and behavioral success is my passion.
My husband, Mike, and I have been married 28 years and have lived in North Texas since 1993. We have one son, Ian, who is a junior at Stephen F. Austin State University, and one dog, Gidget, an 11-pound Chihuahua/terrier mix.
When I'm not at school or spending time with my family, I'm usually reading, spending time with friends, or working out at Jazzercise.
