Welcome to AP English IV and English II on-level!
I enjoyed my first year at Prosper High School last year and will be entering my twentieth year to teach English. I moved to Texas in 1999 (when the Dallas Stars won the Stanely Cup) to teach in Ferris, TX, where I learned key words and phrases such as "y'all", "fixin' to'" and "might could", where my students gaped at my Northern accent and I puzzled at their drawls, and where I discovered that teaching is really where my heart is - despite its many challenges. Since then, I have taught various levels of English in grades 7-12 in several schools in Mansfield ISD, Richardson ISD, and at Prince of Peace Christain School in Carrollton. Most recently, I taught AP Literature, on level Seniors, AP Language, and on-level Sophomores I have a Liberal Arts education from Luther College in Decorah, IA, where I earned a B.A. in English. I furthered my education at the University of Dallas in Irving, TX, earning a Master's in Humanities and then earning a Master's in Education Teacher Leadership from Lamar University in Beaumont, TX. But now, I spend most of my time enjoying time with my friends and family. We enjoy reading, camping, riding four wheelers, traveling, and learning new things together. My twin boys are also proud members of the Eagle Nation, and we all look forward to another great year as members of the Prosper family.
As we progress through the school year, I encourage you to ask questions, to email me, or to come talk with me before or after school. I use Google Classroom and Schoolwires to communicate information to parents and students throughout the year. I ask you to help me continue to navigate "the Prosper way", and I promise to encourage, support, and awaken your interest in and understanding of the power of the written and spoken word.
Together we can...do anything!
