Mrs. Dena Anderson

Welcome to Reynolds Middle School Choir!  I have lived in Plano, TX since 2014 after moving from Longview, TX.  I began teaching Choir at Reynolds MS in 2016.  This will be my 3rd year as the Choir Director at Reynolds MS and my 12th year as a Texas educator.  Besides teaching middle school choir, I have also taught elementary music, special education, private voice and flute lessons.

In 2016-17, we had some great successes in our Choir program.  Our 6th Grade Choir performed at the Sandy Lake Funfest and received a Superior 1st Division rating!  AND to top it off, out of the 23 elementary/middle school choirs that performed that day, the Reynolds MS 6th Grade Choir earned the Outstanding Choir of the Day!!  Our 7th & 8th Grade Choirs also achieved the highest rating at our Region 25's UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest!  Our Men's Choir received a Division 2 in Concert and a Division 1 in Sight Reading!  Our Chamber Choir (non-varsity girls) and our Reynolds Chorale (varsity girls) both received the highest honor awarded - SWEEPSTAKES (Division 1 in both Concert and Sight Reading)!!  This was a 1st time achievement for the Reynolds MS Choir program!

In 2017-18, we continued those traditions of high ratings with our 6th Grade Choir (made up of 95 students) receiving a Superior 1st Division rating at Sandy Lake Funfest!  Our 7th & 8th Grade Choirs also brought back some hardware after the UIL Concert & Sight Reading Contest.  Men's Choir and Reynolds Chorale both received Division 1 in Sight Reading and Division 2 in Concert!  Chamber Choir received the coveted SWEEPSTAKES award yet again this year!!

Personally, I have been married for 21 years to my incredible husband, Jeff (Aggie alumni).  We have 3 children: Danielle is a freshman in college studying to become a physical therapist, Megan is a sophomore at Prosper HS who wants to become a professional soccer player, and Ryan is in 7th grade at Reynolds.  In my spare time, I enjoy taking my younger 2 children to and from FC Dallas soccer practices, games, and tournaments all over the country.  This year, we traveled to Las Vegas, Denver, and North Carolina!  I also love a good comedian, the beach, and the outdoors!

I have a passion for teaching and encouraging middle school students to reach their highest potential!  As a director, I set my expectations HIGH because I believe anything less is not fair to a child....they all deserve to have someone believe they can achieve greatness!
