Welcome! The 2018-19 school year opens my twelfth year teaching secondary ELA. English I and PSAT Prep are my classes this year. I will also serve PHS as ELA department chair and lead the English I teaching team. Serving in Prosper ISD is an exciting opportunity because the Graduate Profile aligns perfectly with my ideals for the classroom, and I want to partner with you to help your future graduates succeed in their goals. During their time in my class, your students will develop critical thinking skills that will prepare them to reach their greatest potential. My goal is to inspire them to learn independently and to give them the tools to excel in whatever their future holds. An important tenet of the Prosper Graduate Profile is to honor others and exhibit respect, and I actively cultivate an atmosphere of collegiality in my classroom and lead by example. Please let me know how I can help your students reach their goals this year.
I have taught ELA in grades 9-12 for on-level, Pre-AP, and AP. I love interacting with high school students because these years are the springboard to adulthood, and it is my privilege to help them on their way to their future. Some highlights of my experience prior to joining Prosper ISD are serving my schools as advisor for National Honor Society, lead AP teacher, and mentor teacher. I also collaborated with the planning committee to transition my school to a Health Science Academy with the National Academy Foundation.
