Jessica Carr

From my earliest memories as a child, I was interested in teaching. Both my grandmother and great-grandmother were teachers and I loved listening to their classroom stories. This will be my sixteenth year of teaching and my passion for education continues to deepen with each year. I grew up in Pennsylvania and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education from Shippensburg University in 1995. Right after graduation, I was married, and my husband and I began a life filled with moving. We have lived in California, Missouri, Indiana, Pennsylvania, California (again) and now we are thrilled to be living in Texas. I have been able to work in each location and have had the privilege to learn and grow in many different types of school systems. I’ve enjoyed teaching third, sixth, seventh and eighth grade. In 2009 I completed my Masters in Education degree as a reading specialist which lead to a position as a reading support teacher.  I began my training to become a dyslexia therapist in 2017. As a resident of Prosper with three children in the district, I am thrilled to be participating in a district known for its holistic approach, technological innovation and rigorous pursuit of best practice in education.
