Katie Johnson

Hello! I am so excited to have the opportunity to help open up Rushing Middle School for the 2020-2021 school year! This will be my 12th year teaching and 7th year in Prosper ISD. I have had the privildge to teach various grade levels and subjects throughout my career, but history is by far my favorite!

I grew up in Southlake, Texas, where I graduated from Southlake Carroll High School before attending the University of Tulsa on a DIvision 1 Soccer Scholarship. I graduated from TU with a Bachelors in Elementary Education and a Minor in Coaching. I have always felt that teaching was a calling of mine and something that I was meant to do. I believe that every student has the ability to learn and that it is my role in my students lives to encourage, empower, and inspire all and to instill a love of learning.

My husband, Dave, and I have lived in Oklahoma and Missouri as he fulfilled his college football coaching passion, before moving into a new role in the redevelopment world after we welcomed our first son, Paxton, in 2018. Paxton for sure keeps us on our toes at all times, but we love every minute and we are gearing up to welcome our second son, Jamison, to the Johnson crew in late October. When I am not in my classroom, I enjoy spending time with family, watching football, running, and traveling any chance that we can get as a family.

I feel so blessed to be in Prosper and I am amazed at the growth that the city and district have endured just in the last 7 years. I am so excited to share my passion for history and to teach and celebrate the rich history of our great nation!

This will be a historical year for us as we embark on a new normal, but I know that we will have an amazing year and I am so excited to get to know you and your families! Please do not ever hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Let's go Raptos!!
