Ms. Kristen Brown

Welcome to 3rd grade at Johnson Elementary! I am thrilled to be starting my twenty-fifth year in education and my third one in this amazing district. I have had many wonderful experiences in the field of education, but connecting with students in the classroom is definitely my passion! I have taught a variety of grade levels, but I've spent the most time teaching 2nd and 3rd grade.  I've been a school-wide literacy coach and have also served at the state level in both Georgia and Montana as a science curriculum specialist.

I grew up in Dallas and then graduated from the University of Alabama with a B.S. in Elementary and Early Childhood Education.  I also hold a Masters of Education degree from Vanderbilt University (Reading Education) and a Specialist in Education degree in Instructional Leadership from Tennessee Technological University. I'm passionate about learning and work hard to instill that ideal in my students.

I have two grown children, a 24-year-old son and a 22-year old daughter.  It is hard to believe I was once in your shoes, sending them off to 3rd grade! I also have a furry family member, a West Highland Terrier named Sophie!

Communication is very important to me, so please always feel comfortable to reach out to me.  I look forward to an incredible year!
