Miss Cara Wildman

Welcome to Music at Rucker!!

My name is Cara Wildman and I'm the music teacher at Rucker Elementary School. I earned my bachelor's and master's degrees from Texas Christian University in music education, with a focus on percussion. I went on to earn a second master's degree in Irish Traditional Music Performance from the University of Limerick in Limerick, Ireland, with a focus on bodhran/piano/sean-nos dancing. I have taught in a variety of settings/age levels, and am excited to start my 10th year teaching!

I grew up on a cattle ranch in Dorchester, Texas, just up the road. In my spare time I like to ride my horse Rocket, fish, read, and go country/salsa dancing with my family and friends. I'm still an active performer in the DFW area, and you can find me gigging around the metroplex most weekends.

I love music because it has changed my life in so many ways--from the friends I've met, to the career I've chosen, to the places I've traveled. So far I've been to 11 countries and ~30 states, and most of those opportunities came from being involved in music!

Music and teaching are my passions and nothing excites me more than sharing my love of music with those around me. I have experienced the life-changing power of music, and believe that every child can be successful in music. Please let me know how I can serve you and your families this year.
