My name is Heather Williams and I'm so excited to be returning to Folsom Elementary for the 2019-2020 school year! This will be my second year as a resource teacher at Folsom, and my twelfth year in special education. I discovered my love for teaching students with special needs in 2007 when I graduated from college and began substitute teaching in a special education classroom. My mother was a special education teacher, and she and I had the chance to work together for six years in CFBISD. She was the most influential person in my early years as an educator. I believe my purpose as a teacher is to provide students with a safe and loving environment, where they can learn, thrive, and develop the skills they need to meet their full potential.
I grew up in Carrollton, TX, playing soccer for the Dallas Sting organization. I earned a scholarship to play soccer for Mississippi State University, where I earned my bachelor’s degree. Leaving soccer behind after graduation was a difficult transition for me. Luckily, I’ve found a passion for teaching that has made this chapter of my life so very meaningful!
My husband Dusty and I live in Carrollton with our two cats, Sonny and The Dude. We are Aunt and Uncle to seven spunky nieces and nephews who we love to spend time with. In the rest of my spare time, I enjoy traveling, hiking, SCUBA, reading, and FRIENDS reruns.
A few final tidbits about me:
A coffee drinker.
A fierce animal lover.
A lifelong learner - I especially love learning about the world we live in and all of it's beautiful creatures, faraway places, and fascinating history.
One of three daughters; often mistaken as a twin to one of my sisters.
One who sleeps late on weekends.
A free spirit.
Dedicated to making a difference.
