Mrs. Laurie Richmond

Hello! My name is Laurie Richmond, and I’m a 4th grade ELAR/SS teacher at Boyer.  This is my first year in Prosper and my 19th year as an educator. I am super excited to be part of the Boyer team and thrilled about beginning our first year together!

I grew up in Lake Charles, LA and made Texas my home in 1985.  I received my Bachelor of Science degree, with an emphasis in Elementary Education, from the University of North Texas.  This is my 11th year teaching 4th grade, and I have also taught 1st, 3rd, and multiple grade levels in Resource.

Aside from being a teacher, I have been married for 33 years to my ever-handy and supportive husband, Reggie.  We have two grown children and a sweetly stubborn Chihuahua named Cocoa.  Our son, Cameron, lives in Colorado and is a ski instructor and landscaper. Our daughter, Madison, is about to graduate from the University of Texas at Tyler in Nursing.  In addition to spending time with our family, we love the outdoors, especially hiking, biking (the one with pedals), kayaking, and fishing. We are college football fanatics (Geaux Tigers!!) but love just about any kind of sport that has a ball involved.

If I were to describe myself, I would first say I am a servant leader.  I have always loved working with children and get immense joy from serving and supporting them as they grow and learn.  I am a firm believer in establishing relationships with open communication and am dedicated to meeting students' needs through differentiated instruction while providing a challenging, yet nurturing, environment.  I am also deeply passionate about my profession and spend a good portion of my personal time reading, staying current with new technology (my husband calls it playing on the computer), or creating fun and engaging lessons/activities.  But most of all, I love to spend time with our family and friends. Whether it be a special get together, or just dinner out...it’s a moment to pause and cherish those that are near and dear.

I am honored to be part of the Prosper family and look forward to an amazing year!

Be Boyer!  Be Brave!  Be YOU!!
