Lisa Musser Roskens can be found working among the talented journalists of the acclaimed Eagle Nation Online newspaper. The 2020-2021 school year marks her third at Prosper High School and her 20th in education.
Prior to coming to Prosper Independent School District, she led the scholastic journalists of Groom, Texas, in building a program that included award-winning newspaper, yearbook and broadcast divisions. Her other experience has included work as a full-time journalist, stay-at-home mom, and freelance writer. Roskens' publishing credits span multiple genres and sources, including National Geographic for Kids, Fort Worth Magazine and numerous trade publications, local newspapers and trade magazines. This school year will mark her tenth to teach scholastic journalism and her fourth as a career technical education instructor.
Roskens has a degree in Journalism and English from Angelo State University and was trained one-on-one by instructors who received top honors from the Texas Association of Journalism Educators as well as the Interscholastic League Press Conference. In addition, she has taught workshops for fellow educators on how to build their school's programs as well as on how to create readers, writers, and producers who practice the 21st-century skills of communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity.
She is married to Prosper High School science teacher Larry Roskens. When they're not at school, she and her husband spend every second possible with family, including their five children and three grandchildren.
