Mrs. Mary Jo Sullivan

Hello!  My name is Mary Jo Sullivan.  I am so very excited to be teaching second grade at Furr Elementary this year. Here is a little background on me.  I was born and raised in Minnesota. I attended St. Catherine’s University in St. Paul, MN. I graduated with a B.A. in Elementary Education.  I am certified to teach EC-4, ELAR 4-8, and ESL. This will be my 31st year of teaching...YES, 31 years, and I have loved every year! During my teaching career I have taught grades 2, 3, and 4, with second grade being my favorite!!.  I taught for 15 years in Minnesota before moving to Frisco 18 years ago. This will be my 17th year as a Texas educator. I am so very lucky to have a career that I have loved for so long. The best parts of my job is connecting with my students, forming a strong bond with them personally and academically and partnering with their parents to make their child’s school experience the most fruitful!!

I have 3 children, Megan, Michael, and Morgan. Megan is a special education teacher in Indiana.  Michael is venturing out in his first career job after graduating from college this past May.  My youngest, Morgan, will be a junior in college at Stephen F. Austin University this year. My family also has a little 7 pound dog named Ellie who thinks she is quite a little princess and pretty much rules our home!  In my spare time I love spending time with my family and friends doing just about anything from going out to dinner to hiking to watching movies and sports. I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to join the Furr family! This is an amazing school that consists of amazing people!!! The best part of my job is making connections with my students and partnering with their parents in their child’s education!
