Mrs. Luanne Odom
Greetings fourth grade! My name is Luanne Odom, and I feel beyond blessed to be a part of the Spradley family. I completed my Masters Degree in Elementary Education, many moons ago, from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. This fall, i will begin my 12th year in education. My husband, Richard, and I have three wonderful kids. Our oldest recently graduated from college with an English degree and Art minor. Our two babies attend Independence High School, where we will be spending time in the fall watching our son play football. During the fall, we spend Saturday afternoons watching college football (Roll Tide). Our lives currently revolve around getting our kids to their various activities at school or church. Family time is very important to me as my kids get older, so I grab up all the time I can.
I am anxiously waiting getting to know your student and how they learn. There is no better feeling than watching a student's face light up when they finally "get it" or realize that they can do anything that is placed before them. It might not be easy, but that is part of the fun in our learning journey. The words "I can't" are not acceptable responses in my room as they can, it just might look different than someone else, and that is perfectly okay. It's not a matter of how we get there, it is that we do get there. My desire is that everyone feels that our room is one in which it is okay to make a mistake, as we learn from those mistakes. It is okay to be vulnerable as the craft of writing is a very vulnerable task. It is okay to ask questions because someone else may have that question.
I promise to treasure your child as if they are on my own. We will all, you, your student and myself, on this learning journey as it will take all of us working together to make fourth grade their best year ever. I am looking forward to meeting you and developing a great partnership.
