Ms. Denise Golden

Hello, my name is Denise Golden!  I am excited to be a third grade teacher at Furr Elementary. What a privilege to be able to open a new school together.  We are going to have an amazing year!

This will be my 29th year teaching, but my first with Prosper ISD.  I began my career teaching 2nd grade with the Department of Defense Schools in Mainz, Germany.  When I returned to the states, I taught 3rd and 5th in the small town of Seward, Nebraska. In 1996, I received the Milken Family Foundation National Educator award for the state of Nebraska.  When my sons were born, I moved to Detroit and stayed home for a couple of years but taught the after school Gifted Program and tutored at Sylvan Learning Centers. When I returned to the classroom, I taught 2nd - 4th grades and was Assistant Principal.  In 2008, I moved to Lincoln, Nebraska where I taught 5th grade and also worked as an Elementary Instructional Coach.

I have three grown children.  My daughter, Alex, lives in Kansas City with her two daughters, Audrey and Andrea.  My son, John, lives in Chicago, IL and just graduated from the Chicago College of Performing Arts.  My son, Michael, lives in Lincoln, NE and attends the University of Nebraska. When I’m not teaching, I like to go kayaking, shopping at flea markets, and watch baseball. I love traveling to learn new things and getting together with family to play games.

I look forward to working with you to make this a successful and fun third grade year for your child! Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me with any questions you may have!
