Mrs. Jennifer Moreno

As a recent transplant from Long Island, New York, I am thrilled to join this exceptional district and will be teaching Spanish 1 at Prosper High School.

This will be my eleventh year of teaching Spanish.   Over my tenure I have enjoyed teaching multiple Spanish courses, from Level 1 up to AP Spanish Language and Culture.  I am excited to return to Level 1 as it is an opportunity to introduce the beautiful language and diverse cultures of Spanish speaking countries.   I incorporate art, literature, current events and music to captivate student engagement.  The class is very interactive.  Communicating in the target language, intrepretavely, interpersonally and presentationally, are key goals for my students.

As a young adult, I lived in Spain and my life was forever changed.    I learned that when one explores cultures different than their native one, the individual's ability to impact, understand and care for others grows exponentially. Exposure to other cultures develops critical thinking, creative problem solving skills and better interpersonal skills.  The key to understanding is through relationships with others and language is the most important tool in this process.

My goal as a Spanish teacher is to inspire and guide students to learn the Spanish language with proficiency so that they can take this skill with them as they become adults.     The ability to communicate in Spanish enables hundreds of opportunities:  medical, education, business, public service professions as well as community service.  In addition, speaking a language that is not your native tongue, shows confidence and brings positive connections.  I hope, that via my classroom, students grow to be these type of citizens who will impact our world for good and  use their Spanish along the way.
