Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year: I am so excited to be teaching 6th Grade Gifted & Talented Math and Honors Math at Rogers Middle School! These courses are designed to engage learners in the major concepts of number sense, problem solving, and mathematical analysis. Students will develop mathematical thinking and reasoning skills, while learning new concepts and skills in the context of solving problems. The curriculum has been developed to encourage students to develop alternative and creative solutions to problems and produce advanced level products and performances.
Getting started: For information regarding class structure, communication with parents and students, resource links, and calendars, please watch the parent presentation linked here.
A little bit about me: I am currently serving my ninth year as a mathematics teacher at Rogers Middle School. I graduated from the University of North Texas (Go Eagles!) with my B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies in 2012 and earned my M.Ed. in Mathematics Curriculum and Instruction from The University of Texas Arlington in 2016. I am currently working on my Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with a STEM track through Texas Tech. I truly LOVE mathematics and hope to share my passion for the subject with my students. I feel so fortunate to be in such an amazing district where our teachers, students, and community are so supportive and innovative. I look forward to my continued career in PISD and with all of the people that make it so great!
