Mr. Harold Bernstein

After spending more than 20 years in the world of Architecture, I decided to pursue my passion of helping students by obtaining my Special Education Teacher Certification. With all of the challenges of being a teacher today, I feel as though the corporate world has equipped me with new skills in managing a team, motivating them, and ultimately working toward a common goal. I also believe that all students are entitled to a high quality education, regardless of their physical, mental, behavioral or verbal limitations. There is no greater joy than that in the small victories that happen daily in a special education classroom.

I began my career as an Instructional Aide specifically working with students on the Autism Spectrum, helping them with their day to day activities in school. I spent the past 4 years teaching a self-contained Special Education classroom - the Total Language Classroom - an intensive educational program for students with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other developmental disorders that require highly structured and individualized intervention for the development of functional communication skills and socially appropriate behaviors.
