Mr. Ross Roark
Greetings! My name is Mr. Ross Roark and I welcome you to my teacher page. If you are here checking me out, you probably want to know a little about me, so here's a brief bio for you.
I was born and raised in Graham, TX, and graduated from Graham High School in the mid-1990s. From there, I traveled to Sherman, TX, and attended Austin College for two years, but then transferred to Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, TX, to finish my degree. I graduated from TCU in May of 2001 and began my teaching career in the Fall of 2001. After teaching for a year right out of college in a small 1A district, I took an opportunity that presented itself to me to explore and teach English in Japan; I thoroughly enjoyed this opportunity to travel and experience another culture while learning about myself and gaining valuable life and work experience. After my sabbatical in Japan, I came back home to Texas and taught in Allen, TX, for the past 15 years. While this is my first year of teaching in Prosper, I am ecstatic to finally be teaching in this wonderful school district that my own two children have been a part of since they started going to school at Baker Elementary.
In my free time, I enjoy reading, playing with my son and daughter, playing golf when I get the chance, binge-watching my favorite TV shows, watching movies, cooking and BBQing, and spending quality time with my wife and family. I'm also an avid sports fan and I will watch almost any sort of game on TV or in person when I get a chance. I'm a HUGE Stars, Cowboys, Mavericks, and Rangers fan. I was born and raised to support all the local sports franchises by my parents, and when I get a chance, I love to go and experience the excitement and spectacle of these competitions in person. However, the thing I love to do the most in my spare time is cook and BBQ; it is a very cathartic experience for me and something that I truly love to do. I've recently taken up pellet cooker BBQ smoking and have enjoyed learning all about all the nuances that go into creating the perfect brisket. When it is done right, it is a thing of beauty!
Needless to say, I am looking forward to my first year teaching at Hays Middle School and helping my students learn all they can while in my class. I want to make sure that they not only learn the content that I have to teach them, but I also hope that they will learn what sort of characteristics are required in life to be a good, productive person that can benefit our society and make the world a better place to live.
