Prosper Eagle Football Highlights and Recap

The Prosper Eagle Football Team accomplished a feat not seen in the program in 10 years after qualifying for the Regional Finals/State Quarter-Finals Game.

The team held an impressive 11-3 overall record for the season with their only losses coming from Dallas Jesuit and Allen during the season and Allen again in the Regional Semi-Final game.

Last year the team stepped into the 6A conference in the largest district in the state ready to prove themselves. Throughout both last season and this season, the team did just that with leadership provided by the Seniors that, according to Coach Brandon Schmidt, “will never be forgotten.”

The team will be graduating 27 Seniors and facing a new look as the district opens the school’s 2nd high school this fall, but the team and coaching staff remain undaunted and eager for new challenges and opportunities for next year.

The team finished the season with several students signing commitments to play at colleges and universities, including Jake Majors who has already signed and received a full scholarship to the University of Texas. In addition,.several players have received All-District Honors as well as Academic All-District and Academic All-State Honors. Please click here to view names.

The team went on to win Bi-District against Naaman Forest, Area against Copperas Cove, and Regional Quarter-finals against Sachse before falling to Klein in 5 games in the Regional Semi-Finals.

While the All-State Recognitions haven’t been announced yet, the team did have many recognitions at the district level including:

District Coach of the Year: Erin Kauffman

District Setter of the Year: Mackenzie Jefferson

First Team All District: Sami Jacobs, Bailey Birmingham, Shaylee Shore
