Instructional Services
Prosper ISD offers a full continuum of special education services to meet the unique needs of every student based on a Full and Individual Evaluation. Services are determined based upon a student’s Present Levels of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance and goals determined by the ARD committee which consists of parents and staff. Consideration of a student’s least restrictive environment is critical when determining recommendations for individualized supports and services to ensure access to the general curriculum. Special education instructional and related services are available on every campus within Prosper ISD.
Additionally, Prosper ISD offers specialized supports and services through a variety of centralized special education programs, each of which is designed to meet the unique needs of individual learners. The classroom environments of these programs are highly structured and employ a multitude of evidence-based instructional strategies and curricula that enable our students to appropriately access their grade-level learning standards. Positive behavior supports and interventions as well as social and emotional learning are embedded into the design of each program. Students in all of our centralized programs are able to participate in general education classes and activities to the maximum extent possible to meet their educational needs. Placement in these programs is determined by the student’s ARD committee.
