HIGHLIGHTS: Prosper ISD Unified Track and Field Teams Compete at State

Rock Hill HS and Prosper HS participated in Unified Sports Track and Field for the first time this year. Unified Sports Track and Field involves students with and without intellectual disabilities competing on the same team representing their campus in 100M Dash, 4 X100M relay, long jump, and shot putt events.
 
Rock Hill HS had a team consisting of six Special Education students and seven General Education students, while Prosper HS had a team consisting of six Special Education students and eight General Education students.
 
Both schools competed in local and area competitions before qualifying for the regional competition in Waco, where they both were able to advance to the state competition that was hosted at McMurry University in Abilene this past Tuesday, May 2nd.
 
The state competition brought together the top 15 Unified Sports Track and Field teams from throughout Texas. Rock Hill HS finished with a total of 72 points and Prosper HS finished with a total of 73 points. 
 
The athletes are looking forward to competing again next year!
