One District - One Read
Order Form Due May 14th

Our second annual One District, One Read will be a celebration of the poetic works of Kwame Alexander. He believes that poetry can change the world, and he uses it to inspire and empower young people around the world.

If you would like your student to participate, you can purchase Mr. Alexander's books at discounted rates through your student's school library. In the fall, we will follow up with ways to reflect on Mr. Alexander’s poetry at school, and the One District, One Read will culminate with a district-wide author visit and celebration of reading. Student order forms will be due May 14th and books will be delivered before the end of the school year. We hope you'll join us in One District, One Read!

2018-2019 Summer Reading Information
6th-12th Grades

WHY SUMMER READING?
Research shows that students who don’t engage in literacy activities throughout the summer break suffer from “the summer slide.” (Click here to see research by Scholastic about the importance of reading throughout the summer.) The purpose of summer reading in Prosper ISD is to minimize the effects of “the summer slide.” Additionally, PISD continues to refine the design of summer reading so that as students read throughout the summer break, they are both able to explore reading through choice and through exposure to thought-provoking literature.
