We Are Prosper...

hands holding PISD logo
hands reaching to the PISD logo
This has been a tough couple of weeks for our PISD family – we have lost a dad and a mom that succumbed to their battles with cancer and other health-related issues respectively and we also lost two PISD employees (bus driver and police officer) for health-related issues as well. When we say “We are Prosper – We are One”… that does not mean we are all “Eagles” nor all “Green” – especially with all the new schools on the horizon. What it means is that we are in it together sharing the triumphs and the tragedies celebrating successes while leaning on each other during difficult times. There is never a reason not to be kind to one another – I challenge us all to remember that when the emotions of this moment wane. We have amazing students, a highly qualified and dedicated staff, and phenomenally supportive community that band together to protect the “P”. The Express will be taking a break over the summer and will be ready to soar again come August. Between now and then if you have any questions on any PISD topic, please do not hesitate to reach out to us (Eagle Chat)… we will be here working hard to ensure a great beginning to a new school year as we bring two new elementary schools online bracing for nearly 15,000 students. Have a great summer and we will see you soon!

2018-2019 Summer Reading Information
6th-12th Grades

Research shows that students who don’t engage in literacy activities throughout the summer break suffer from “the summer slide.” (Click here to see research by Scholastic about the importance of reading throughout the summer.) The purpose of summer reading in Prosper ISD is to minimize the effects of “the summer slide.” Additionally, PISD continues to refine the design of summer reading so that as students read throughout the summer break, they are both able to explore reading through choice and through exposure to thought-provoking literature.
