NEWS: School Closed Tuesday, January 31, 2023

As weather conditions have continued to deteriorate, the district, in consultation with area emergency management and local meteorologists, has determined out of an abundance of caution for our buses and teen drivers that we will begin dismissing students as follows:

  • High school students who drive will be released at 2:15 pm. Buses will run on schedule.  We strongly encourage any parents who normally pick up their students to do so immediately.  Students may stay on campus to be picked up by parents if necessary.

  • Middle school students will be dismissed at regular time. Buses will run on schedule.  All walkers will be held until dismissal traffic clears. We strongly encourage any parents who normally pick up their students to do so immediately.  Students may stay on campus to be picked up by parents if necessary.

  • Elementary students will dismiss at normal times. This will keep our youngest students safe until parents can get home in time to receive their children riding the bus.  We strongly encourage any parents who normally pick up their students to do so immediately. Our AlphaBEST elementary after-school program is encouraging families to pick up their children as quickly as possible, so staff members may begin traveling home as soon as possible.

  • All afternoon and evening activities are canceled.

  • School is canceled for Tuesday, January 31, 2023.

Stay tuned to the district website, Facebook, Twitter, and the news for possible changes for the next school day.

We will not be required to make-up this day, as we build the school calendar each year with added instructional minutes. The Texas Education Agency requires that students complete 75,600 minutes of instruction per year, and we exceed those minutes to prepare for bad weather days

For now, stay safe and warm.  We will update you through email, text, website and social media as conditions change.
