    Mrs. Jerry Bryant Elementary School

Title I Parent Family Engagement Policy 2023-2024

Mrs. Jerry Bryant Elementary believes that parents are partners with teachers and other staff in the education of their children. Bryant believes that parent involvement and empowerment are essential to student academic growth at all levels throughout the school district. Bryant believes that student achievement requires that parents have an understanding of curriculum, academic achievement standards, assessments, and district/school policies and procedures. Families also need to understand how to monitor their children’s progress and work together with educators. Bryant will offer multiple parent meetings designed to gain input and inform parents about Bryant expectations. Bryant hosts an annual parent information meeting designed for parents to receive information about the campus and district Title I program. Individual student progress is shared with parents on a one-on-one basis through communications from classroom teachers and from those that have an educational interest in the child. Bryant believes that this information leads to increased parent involvement, communication, and academic achievement of all students.

Bryant Elementary will work in collaboration with parents and guardians and will actively support

parents in enhancing parent involvement by:

▪Partnering with parents in the education of their children. Parents are included in policy decisions through our district and campus Site Based Improvement Committees and District Parent Involvement Federal Programs Committee.

▪Fostering a welcoming and responsive environment for all stakeholders. Bryant has an on campus counselor who supports both student and family needs. Office staff are welcoming and sensitive to the needs of all parents. Beginning and ending year surveys will be available for campus and district use to identify needs and monitor progress of program goals.

▪Coordinating efforts to meet the needs of parents through various district and campus programs. Examples include Eager Eaglets for incoming kindergartners, Family Resource Center, Community Outreach Programs, Pastries with Parents, Coffee with the Counselor, and many more activities for parent involvement throughout the year.

▪Valuing the need for partnerships between the school and the community. The district actively seeks resources to support academic and parent programs.

▪Establishing and promoting communication as a source of trust and understanding between the school and parents. This is accomplished through parent-teacher meetings, parent-principal meetings, e-mail, campus and grade level classroom newsletters, campus and district web pages, phone calls, parent meetings, etc.

Parents/Guardians are asked and encouraged to be involved in their children’s learning

    and education by:

▪Utilizing two-way lines of communication between parents, school staff and the district on the instruction, achievement and conduct of their children.

▪Participating in training opportunities including strategies to reinforce learning at home, discipline, and understanding cultural differences. Restorative practices, math/reading/science family nights, computer literacy, etc. help to empower parents.

▪Participating in site-based leadership and decision-making through the Bryant Parent Advisory, district committees, Parent Teacher Organization, and district/campus Site Based Improvement Committee.

▪Volunteering in their children’s schools through mentoring programs, field trips, classroom support, etc.

▪Supporting partnerships within the community through participation in programs such as local area restaurant fundraising, PTO events, fundraisers, etc.

Our vision for Bryant Elementary School is to be an innovative learning community that supports our trailblazers and is committed to continual improvement. Thank you for your partnership as we blaze our trail here at Bryant Elementary.
