Together We Empower

In Prosper ISD, leadership isn’t limited to the administration, but is nurtured in classrooms, too. That’s the vision behind the Teacher Leadership Institute (TLI), a program Prosper is proud to bring to its educators through a partnership with N2 Learning.

Now in its second year, TLI has given two cohorts of Prosper teachers, one from each of the district’s 32 campuses, the opportunity to step into a unique role of serving as leaders among their peers. Each participant is hand-selected by their principal for their influence and dedication, making it both an honor and a responsibility to be chosen.

“What surprised me most was how much personal reflection was involved in the process,” Windsong Ranch Elementary Third Grade Teacher, Mandy Wilcox, said. “I expected to gain leadership strategies, but I didn’t anticipate how deeply I’d examine my own beliefs, biases, and leadership identity. That internal work made the learning far more meaningful and impactful.“

Through six sessions, these teachers explore what it means to lead with purpose, from reimagining student learning to inspiring collaboration among colleagues. Along the way, they design a Transformation Target — a project aimed at creating lasting, positive change on their campus, whether by boosting student achievement, strengthening school culture, or sparking new approaches to learning.

For Prosper ISD, the institute is more than just professional development; it is an investment in people. By empowering educators to lead from within, the district is fostering stronger collaboration, supporting student engagement, and promoting growth across its campuses. Already, teacher-leaders are bringing back practical ideas and renewed perspectives, making a positive difference in their schools.

“I’ve come away feeling so empowered,” Wilcox said. “Leadership is mindset, action, and influence—things every teacher can tap into, regardless of position.”
