Together We Prosper October 21, 2025 | | |

| | | The dedication ceremony for Smothermon Elementary School on October 15 was a heartfelt evening full of connection and community. Families, staff, and neighbors came together to honor Virgie Witt Smothermon, a lifelong Prosper resident and devoted educator who taught generations of students to read, write, and enjoy learning. With touching words from Principal Tonya Jasenof, the Smothermon family, and district leaders, the celebration gave more meaning to a place already filled with purpose and pride.
This tradition of dedicating a ceremony to our new schools' namesakes and community allows us to honor our roots while creating spaces where students have the resources and support to learn, grow and build their future. Mrs. Smothermon's legacy lives on in every classroom, where curiosity is encouraged and every student is given the tools to succeed. | | | Celebrate Red Ribbon Week from October 27-31.Red Ribbon Week is a time to talk with students about healthy choices and the importance of living drug-free.
