| | Watkins Middle School Delayed to Fall 2027After careful consideration of our district's growth patterns, we are delaying the opening of Watkins Middle School from its initially scheduled Fall 2026 date.
Why This Decision is Necessary Prosper ISD is still growing and remains one of the fastest-growing districts in Texas; however, the North Texas region is experiencing a shift in population movement.
DFW is experiencing a notable slowdown in new home construction, with new home starts down 37% and closings down 29% year over year. Economic factors, including interest rates and a slower resale market, have impacted projected enrollment growth throughout the region. Texas school districts receive funding on a per-pupil basis, which means our revenue is directly tied to student enrollment. When enrollment growth slows unexpectedly in our area, school districts receive less funding than anticipated.
We are not alone in making these adjustments—several neighboring North Texas districts, including Frisco, McKinney, Plano, and Allen, have made similar decisions in response to changing growth patterns. | | | | Prosper ISD Celebrates 24 National Merit Semifinalists We celebrated our exceptional National Merit Scholarship Program Semifinalists.
This prestigious recognition places our students among an elite group—representing less than 1% of high school seniors nationwide who took the PSAT. These outstanding scholars now have the opportunity to advance in the competition for approximately 6,930 National Merit Scholarships, totaling nearly $26 million, which will be awarded next spring. | Prosper High SchoolAdithri Raghuram, Arnav Bhute, Dylan Lyon, Emily Zhang, Janani Sridhar, Katie Lee, Kenna Boyd, Khyati Khanderao, Krish Hariharan, Lakshya Meiyappan, Meher Lahiri Gudipati, Murtaza Siddiqui, Om Gaddad, Tejas Paleti | | Richland High School | | Rock Hill High SchoolDylan Kim, Kisoremohan Mohanasundaram, Praneel Mahalatkar, Rithvik Rajesh | | Walnut Grove High SchoolCooper Brown, Lindsay Moffatt, Mahideep Nadella, Vedhas Samudrala, Jeel Soni | | | Three Prosper ISD Principals Selected for Prestigious Thompson Principal Academy

Admission to the Thompson Principal Academy is highly competitive, with only approximately 25 participants selected for each cohort. Prosper ISD is proud to have three principals earning this distinguished opportunity for professional growth and leadership advancement.

Participants engage with an innovative nationwide network of educational leaders, experiencing one of the most significant professional growth opportunities available in their careers.
Selection for the Principals' Institute is highly competitive, with only 60-70 principals chosen annually from across the region. Prosper ISD is proud to have three principals representing our district in this distinguished leadership development program.
