The Prosper ISD Board of Trustees wants to share an update with the our community regarding a lawsuit filed in 2022 following allegations of abuse by a former district bus driver.

The case, brought by the parents of two Prosper ISD students, has been dismissed.

The Board wants to be clear: the actions of a former employee caused real harm, and this family remains in the Board's thoughts. No legal outcome changes that, and the district will continue to support them. The dismissal affirms that the district acted swiftly and appropriately — contacting law enforcement and child protective authorities immediately, ensuring the employee was arrested and terminated, and prioritizing the privacy and well-being of those impacted. Multiple independent investigations confirmed that district leaders responded decisively the moment they were made aware.

The safety of Prosper ISD students is not something the Board takes for granted. Prosper ISD remains committed to transparency, accountability, and ensuring that every child in its care is protected.

The Board reported on the status of trustee continuing education credits. Every member of the Prosper ISD Board of Trustees is up to date, with all trustees surpassing the required number of hours — demonstrating the Board's dedication to staying informed and prepared to lead the district.

11. D. The administration will provide a report on the preliminary 2026-2027 budget

CFO Keri Croy presented the Board of Trustees with a "near final" look at the proposed 2026–2027 budget. Projected revenue of $415.7 million reflects an increase of more than $21 million over the current year; however, projected expenses total nearly $434 million, resulting in a preliminary deficit of $18.7 million — even after the district has identified $21.5 million in potential savings. The preliminary budget includes a 3% raise for all district personnel.

Formal budget adoption is anticipated in June.

The Prosper ISD Board of Trustees has selected Impact Education Specialists to lead the search for the district's next superintendent. The decision follows a review of executive search firms and marks a significant step forward in identifying a new leader for the district.

The search comes as Superintendent Dr. Holly Ferguson retires, following her leadership of Prosper ISD through a period of remarkable growth to approximately 34,000 students.

The Board remains committed to a thorough, community-centered process — one that reflects the values and priorities of Prosper ISD as the district moves into its next chapter of leadership.

A consent agenda shall include items of a routine and/or recurring nature grouped together under one action item. For each item listed as part of a consent agenda, the Board shall be furnished with background material.

The Board approved the Consent Agenda as presented (7-0 vote)

The Prosper ISD Board of Trustees welcomes public comment at Board meetings. In order to provide an efficient process at the Board meetings, we ask that individuals complete the Public Comment Form and submit it no later than noon on the Friday before the meeting. The Notice of Meeting/Agenda is posted three business days in advance of the Board meeting.
