| |  | | Prosper ISD Dedicates New Rucker Elementary Prosper ISD officially celebrated the dedication of the brand-new Judy Rucker Elementary School building on Wednesday, August 26. The milestone event brought together students, district leadership, educators, and community members to honor the legacy of the campus and its namesake.
Mrs. Rucker began her career as an educator and came to Prosper in 1983, when our community looked very different than it does today. She taught in Prosper ISD and eventually became the principal of Prosper Elementary, serving our district for 14 years and public education for 32 years. In 2005, Prosper ISD renamed Prosper Elementary to be known as Judy Rucker Elementary. The new Judy Rucker Elementary School campus is located directly next to the previous building, which now is used as the District Programs Building.
"At Rucker Elementary, we talk about being Rooted in Excellence. To me, that means being grounded in who we are, committed to serving others, always striving to grow, and leaving the places we touch better than we found them," Bobbie Allen, principal of Rucker Elementary, said. "That is the legacy of Judy Rucker. And that is the legacy we hope every student who walks through these doors will carry with them." | |  |  | What's Next? Come Find Out. Not every student is headed down the same path, and Prosper ISD is built to meet them on it. On Tuesday, September 8 from 6–8 PM at Richland High School, families can meet with colleges, trade schools, and military branches all in one place. It's a chance for students to ask questions and explore the options waiting for them, whatever direction they're headed. | | | | |  | |  | | | |  |  | When school starts, so do colds, coughs and other common illnesses A new school year brings new classes, new teachers and reunions with friends after summer break. But it can also bring increased sniffles, coughs and colds. | | | | | The 2026–2027 Free and Reduced-Price Lunch Applications are now open! Starting August 5, Prosper ISD will begin sending letters home to eligible households about benefits and any next steps needed to apply. If your household doesn't automatically qualify (for example, through SNAP, TANF, or other program participation), you can apply online anytime during the school year at prosper-isd.net/page/free-and-reduced-lunch. You'll need household member names, income information, and the last four digits of a Social Security number (or you can indicate you don't have one). Questions about eligibility?
