Building academic preparedness and giving students the tools to succeed as they launch their journey toward college and career excellence.
Twenty-seven Prosper ISD seniors have been named Semifinalists in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program, placing them among fewer than 16,000 students nationwide, less than one percent of graduating seniors in the country.
Students earned this distinction from their scores on the 2025 PSAT/NMSQT, which served as the initial screen for more than 1.2 million entrants from roughly 20,000 high schools nationwide. The number of Semifinalists from each state is proportional to that state's share of the national graduating class, meaning these 27 students represent some of the strongest academic performers not just in Prosper ISD, but across Texas.
To advance to Finalist standing, each Semifinalist must maintain an outstanding academic record, earn an endorsement from a high school official, write an essay, and confirm their qualifying scores with the SAT or ACT. Of this year's Semifinalists nationwide, more than 15,000 are expected to reach Finalist standing, with roughly half of Finalists ultimately earning the title of Merit Scholar.
Congratulations to all 27 Semifinalists, representing every Prosper ISD high school and proof of what's possible when students are given the advanced academic pathways to launch their journey toward college, career, and military readiness.
