Mrs. Shelly Spears
Welcome to Prosper ISD and Rucker Elementary! It is my honor and privilege to serve the students, staff, and community of Rucker Elementary School. This campus holds a very special place in my heart as I was a teacher in the building while my boys spent all their elementary years here. My motto has always been, “Every child can learn, just not on the same day, or in the same way.” As principal, this statement continues to ring true. By acting as a servant leader to our dedicated teachers, parents, and students, my goal is to create a nurturing and academic environment that is embraced by us all!
I consider myself a lifelong learner and am continually searching for professional and personal growth. My educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Fort Hays State University in Kansas and a Master of Education in Administration degree from Lamar University in Texas. I am also a Licensed and Certified Academic Therapist (dyslexia therapist). I have been in the education field since 1994 - as a classroom teacher, reading specialist, and now administrator. I have a huge passion and heart for helping students find their confidence and strengths in our ever-changing world.
My other full-time job is being mom to three teenage boys - a set of twins at Rogers and one at PHS. I am also wife to my college sweetheart! My husband and I are originally from Kansas and are diehard Kansas Jayhawk basketball fans!
I have been blessed to be a part of PISD since 2007 and look forward to serving our Rucker families during this exciting time of growth for our district and community. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me. At Rucker, we are committed to joining forces with you to give our students the most memorable and rewarding academic experience possible.

I am honored to serve Rucker Elementary as Assistant Principal this year. This is my 12th year in education and have had the privilege to be part of the Prosper family for my last 8 years. I received my undergraduate degree from the University of North Texas. I have my Masters degree in Leadership and Policies Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington.
I am a proud mother of one, believer that everything is possible, and an advocate for all kids. My goal is to act as a servant leader for our teachers, parents, and students. I believe that a great partnership between all stakeholders is an essential part of ensuring success for all students and building well rounded individuals.
It is going to be a great year as well all embrace the journey together!
