I am honored to serve as the principal of Stuber Elementary.  The 2020 school year will mark my 18th year as an educator.  I am so excited to continue to build relationships with staff, students, families, and the community as we continue to build the Stuber story.  My goal is to foster a learning environment that focuses on building positive relationships, serving our community, and pursuing excellence in all we do every day!

I originally grew up in a small town in Alabama.  I had the privilege of meeting my high school sweetheart, Matt, and have been married for 25 years.  While Matt served in the US Navy, I completed my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education at Chaminade University in Honolulu, Hawaii.  Soon after graduation, I started my teaching career as a 5th-grade teacher.  I would have the great opportunity to teach in different states including Florida, Colorado, and Alabama teaching 5th and 6th grades as well as gifted classrooms.  After serving in Operation Iraqi and Enduring Freedom, Matt pursued a call to ministry which would continue to take us to various states serving others.  During this time, I desired to reach farther than my individual classroom and in 2006 graduated with a Master’s in Education Leadership from The George Washington University in Washington, DC.  Soon I served as an instructional coach and then an assistant principal.  As an avid learner, I set the goal to earn a doctorate degree by the time I was 40 years old.  While serving as principal of Enon Elementary in Chester, Virginia, I successfully defended my dissertation and graduated in 2018 with my Doctorate in Education Administration from The University of Alabama- one month before turning 41 years old.

Matt and I have two boys, Cody and Caleb. Cody is 19 and attends Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee, and Caleb is 14 and will be in Freshman at Prosper High School.  In my spare time, I enjoy snuggling up with a good book, listening to music, and visiting art museums and the theater.  Living in a house of boys, football is a way of life, so SEC football is a love as well -Roll Tide Roll!

This year offers new opportunities for our community to truly live up to its name.  Whether part of our school virtually or in-person, our desire is to partner with every family to create a learning experience that can't be found anywhere else.  Our House System is one way we unite our school, so be sure to learn about our House System within this website (Go Kuthamini!).  Out motto is Stuber Sparks Success!  Thanks for joining us in the journey!

Howdy!

It is an honor to serve as Stuber’s Assistant Principal for the 2020-2021 school year. I have been an educator for seventeen years with thirteen of those years serving the students and families in Prosper ISD. I am beyond grateful to be a part of such a wonderful namesake in Chuck and Cindy Stuber Elementary School. Furthermore, it is a true privielege to get to serve the many families and students that call our school home. My hope is that we will continue to honor the Stuber family by creating a school where students love to learn and teachers love to teach. We work hard to create a family atmosphere where our students, staff, and community feel valued.

I have been married to my husband, Kirby, for 15 years and have a beautiful 10 year old daughter, Raileigh. We are a house divided between Texas A&M and the University of Texas, and I am proud to say that I am currently winning the battle of our daughter's heart. Gig ‘Em! Our dogs, Dewey and Lola, love to take up space on our couch and are the best snugglers when needed.

I am excited for what is ahead for our school. It is such an exciting time in Prosper ISD and I am ready to continue building strong relationships with the students and families who call Stuber home. What an incredible opportunity, for there is nothing more important in life than to help shape the hearts and minds of children.

I look forward to partnering with you to ensure that your child has the very best elementary experience possible.

Sincerely,

Katie McLain
