Happy Sunday, Baker Families!
We wrapped up another fantastic week here at Baker Elementary! Even with this intense summer heat, our students and staff have been absolute champs, keeping the energy high and the learning moving forward.
We know how important it is for kids to get outside, burn off some energy, and breathe fresh air. Since our usual recess times hit during the hottest part of the afternoon, we're trying to be getting creative. We're finding extra opportunities earlier in the day to get classes outside safely before the temperatures soar. Keeping our kids safe while still giving them room to run around is a top priority, and we'll keep finding ways to make that happen.
Read-A-Thon Update You all are doing an incredible job supporting our Read-A-Thon fundraiser! Thanks to your efforts, we are already about halfway to our $30,000 goal. Please keep logging those reading hours every day—every minute counts!
Also, don't forget to join us throughout the week for special virtual read-alongs hosted by our very own Baker staff. The kids love seeing familiar faces reading their favorite stories. You can find all the details and the direct link to the read-alongs below.
Be sure to check out the Information below for upcoming events, important announcements, and dates. Have a wonderful evening! |

A La Carte Items at Lunch As partners in your child’s education, we strive to encourage healthy choices and ensure all students have adequate time to enjoy their lunch. To support consistent cafeteria procedures and balanced habits, please review the following guidelines regarding lunchtime purchases. Cafeteria Purchase Order Procedure Campus staff cannot restrict what a student chooses to eat, but all students must follow the District's standard cafeteria purchase sequence: Meal First: Students need to obtain their complete lunch from the main meal service line before purchasing ice cream, desserts, or other à la carte items. Consumption: Students are not required to finish their meal before buying an à-la-carte item; this procedure only applies to the order in which items are obtained.
Parental Meal Account Restrictions: Under Prosper ISD policy and state guidelines, only parents and guardians hold the authority to set financial or dietary restrictions on cafeteria accounts. If you wish to limit your child's purchases (e.g., establishing daily spending caps, limiting à-la-carte options, or restricting ice cream), you can set these rules directly through the district: Visit the Prosper ISD Homepage. Navigate to Departments (or District Services) and select Child Nutrition. Click on Meal Account Restrictions in the side menu (also accessible via Parent Resources or the My School Bucks page). Complete the form to establish your preferences, such as No À-La-Carte, Cash Only À-La-Carte, or specific daily limits.
Questions regarding purchasing procedures or à-la-carte options may be directed to Child Nutrition personnel at child-nutrition@prosper-isd.net. Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting our students' well-being! |
Hats on Campus (Baker) Per district policy, hats are generally not permitted on campus unless designated by individual school leadership. Here at Baker, our designated day for students to wear hats is Fridays.
Please note that certain students may have individualized campus plans or arrangements that permit them to wear hats on other days of the week. These approved exceptions will continue as outlined in those specific plans.
We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a consistent, supportive environment for all students! |
