Take a look below for our STAAR days where we cannot have visitors on campus in April. Our next testing day is this coming Tuesday for Science for our 5th Graders! We will be cheering them on! No visitors campus-wide on this day and the other dates listed below. Thank you!

A few housekeeping items are listed below, as well as upcoming dates: - As a reminder, all important dates and events for Cockrell for the year are in a document linked below for your planning purposes.
- Dress Code: Please refer to the Dress and Grooming guidelines in the PISD Student Handbook. Remember, hats are appropriate for students on Fridays. Additional "hat days" will be communicated throughout the year as well!
- We would love for you to follow us on Facebook if you have not already. You can find our page at @PISDCockrellElem. Look for the correct Facebook page that has our logo as the main profile picture. This will provide a glimpse into Cockrell for you as we move through the year!

- Tuesday, May 19th: 5th Grade EOY Party at The Cove
- Wednesday, May 20th: Last Day of School, Detailed schedule for the day coming soon, Champion Assembly 8:00-8:40, EOY Parties, 5th Grade Walk 1:30 pm

Leighton Lyn Gee Our Newest Cockrell Champion! |  | | | | | | Our fabulous front office team was trained last week on a new check-in and check-out system for your child at Cockell as well as for yourself if you are visiting our campus. Please read below for updates:
You must have your Drivers' License, Passport, or any government issued ID in order to use the new system (as has been the expectation already, but this will be important for you to access this on your own.) Now when you walk in, you will see an ipad on a stand right in front of Mrs. Elvia's window inside of the vestibule. You will follow the directions on the screen to check yourself in or to request your child for check-out. If you do not have an ID as listed above, you will not be able to do this. If you are visiting campus, when you leave the front office, you will check yourself out on the ipad that is inside the office next to Mrs. Elvia, or you can use the same ipad you used to check-in inside of the vestibule.
Our office team cannot sign you in or check out your child for you anymore. However, as always, they will be here to help or answer questions as we get used to this together, but think of it as a self-service station. Please be mindful that patience will be necessary as everyone gets used to this new operating system that is being installed district-wide at every campus.
If you're like me, it can be frustrating (and I tend to never choose to) to use self-service stations at the grocery store, at the airport, and at a lot of other places I'm sure we could think of together. However, at Cockrell, we can do it! Thank you again for the patience and for giving Elvia, Kelli, Scozz, and Teraya grace through this shift.
Ms. Gasmire | | | With the installation of the new check in and check out system explained above, our process for kiddos coming late to school will also be shifting. In order to get used to this process now rather than waiting until August, we will start the process below on Monday, May 4th.
The school day begins at 7:50 am. If your child is late to school, anytime 7:51 and on, you will need to park and walk your child into the building to sign them in using our new ipad system as explained above. Kiddos will not be able to hop out of the car and run into the school after the bell rings on their own. You will need to park and walk in with them.
Our car line is trending right now on having a lull in the line between 7:30-7:35. I would suggest getting into the car line earlier rather than later. We have 2 car lines, in the front and back, to utilize based on your last name. Please use the appropriate line to continue to ensure seamless movement and traffic flow as we get all of our kids into the building by 7:50. Please pull all the way to the front of the line and do not stop prior to that.
Beginning Monday, May 4th, you will need to check your child in to the school using our check-in system if they are arriving late to school, after 7:50.
Thank you! | | | With our new system also comes a new way to sign up to attend events at Cockrell. Please use the link below to sign-up if you are planning to come to the April Champion Assembly.
Please sign-up before Wednesday, April 22 by 2 pm.
Anyone signed up after that time is not guaranteed a "Fast Pass" and will have to sign-in the day of the event. Make sure to bring your D.L or Government issued ID to be able to sign-in as you will not be able to sign-in without it with our new sign in software. As always, we appreciate you for your willingness to keep our Champions safe.

Please bring items to the grade level boxes during the week and earn Extra Recess for the winning grade level!
