Folsom Families,
It was a busy, full, and fun week at Folsom! Thank you to our Watch Dog Dads who met with our assistant principal, Mrs. Rubin, on Thursday and are planning on joining us this year to help strengthen our school community. We also had our first spirit night at Chick Fil A and it was so great to see Folsom families there connecting that evening. Read on to see some other highlights from the week!
We have a lot to look forward coming up after Labor Day weekend and are excited to see our students back on Tuesday (9/8). Please know that it's important to us that you know we are a team here at Folsom and you as parents are part of our team - do not hesitate to contact us and reach out with any questions or concerns.

Please scan the QR code or click on the link for the permission form and more information! As a reminder, students participating in Running Club are expected to be able to run or walk for the duration of our time together. Folsom Features Our students work really hard both inside and outside of school and we want to recognize our students as often as we can! If your student would like to be featured at one of our Folsom Friday Live assemblies this year for an outside of school achievement (such as participation in musical, athletic, leadership, or academic groups/teams/clubs), please email me at aeturner@prosper-isd.net. We can set up a date for your student to be featured at an assembly and he/she can join me on the stage to show pictures of their accomplishment and share what they have learned from the experience! |
September 11th and November 11th Each year at Folsom we are proud to recognize our Folsom community first responders and active military on September 11th and our Veterans on November 11th. We encourage our staff and students to wear red, white, and blue on those days.
On September 11th for Texas First Responders Day, we will have a slideshow after announcements honoring our Folsom first responders and active military. If you or a family member of one of our students would like to be in the slideshow, please send an email with a picture to me at aeturner@prosper-isd.net between now and September 10th. We will also have a moment of silence to commemorate September 11th, 2001 after announcements that day.
On November 11th for Veteran's Day, we invite our Folsom community Veterans in or for our annual parade. As this date gets closer, we will send out an RSVP for our Veterans to join us on that day. |
Pastries with the Principal Throughout the year, we will have Pastries with the Principal events where I would love to connect with you! Our first Pastries with the Principal event will be on September 11th at 8 am in the cafeteria. Save the date if you'd like to hear more about our campus goals for the 26-27 school year! We will have pastries and coffee available during the presentation and meet and greet as well. |

Arrival and Dismissal Safety Students must 'walk their wheels' once on school property. Pleae help us remind students to get off of their bikes and scooters while near our school, to use cross walks, and to follow all rules of the road! Thank you for helping keep our community safe.
Students may not arrive prior to 7:25 am unless utilizing the 7:15 early drop off option. If you are utilizing early morning drop off, you must make sure your student gets to our early arrival staff member by walking your student to the door between the gym and the cafeteria. We appreciate your support in making sure all of our students arrive safely! |

Together We Champion Our teachers have started collaborating on writing instruction throughout the building. Writing is a difficult skill and gaining confidence and skill in writing increases our student's ability to communicate their valuable thoughts and ideas! We saw lots of great writing across content areas in classes this week and I was very impressed with the amount that our students were wanting to write in their writing journals, in response to books, to explain their thinking, and more! |
Together We Cultivate Another way to help ensure all students have the opportunity to share thoughts and build upon their thinking is through strategies that cultivate discussion such as turn and talk. In third grade this week, students were using turn and talk and sentence stems in order to have high level discussions about authentic texts. They then used ideas from their discussion to strengthen their writing in their Reader's Response journals. |
Together We Empower It's important to us that we empower our students through leadership and connection in the building all year long! Shout out to students who signed up for safety patrol, which is one way to lead at Folsom. You'll see our safety patrol members out at car line and they will also be in our halls ensuring that all of our students are warmly welcomed and that everyone gets to where they need to go at arrival. |
Together We Prosper We love welcoming new students to our Folsom family. This past week we had new to Folsom lunches ran by one of our teachers, Mr. Thompson, and our counselor, Mrs. Winchester, with food sponsored by our PTO! It's important to us that we check in with and warmly welcome our students who are new to us. It can be difficult to adjust to a new school, and we want all of our students to love it here at Folsom and to feel connected. It was great to hear the laughter and see the smiles during the lunches! |

Folsom Visitors and Volunteers Lunch Visitors - Starting September 8th, we are allowing lunch visitors! All visitors that come to eat lunch with a student must be listed in Skyward. We will ask for your driver's license during check-in.
Volunteers and Support - Please join PTO if you are looking for many ways to get involved with our school and support! See the flyer for more information about joining.
- Calling all volunteers! Are you willing to get copies done for our hard working teachers? Sign up here if you are interested. Please reach out to Mrs. Fields in the front office if you have additional questions.
- All volunteers must have a completed background check. If you are interested in volunteering, you will need to submit an application for a background check each school year. We recommend getting this done now so you don't have to worry about it later in the year. To fill out a form, click here.
