Dear Furr Elementary Families,

Week Four was short but busy at Furr! It’s hard to believe we are already approaching the halfway point of our first nine weeks of the school year. The time is flying by!

As we reach this point in the grading period, please make sure you are checking Skyward regularly. Students in 2nd–5th grade will have grades posted weekly, and next week, progress reports will be posted for these students. If your child has a grade of 75 or below, their teacher will reach out so that we can partner together to provide support and make a plan for success before the end of the nine weeks.

While Kindergarten and 1st grade do not receive progress reports, their teachers have been—and will continue to be—in communication with families if students are experiencing challenges or need additional support. We believe that strong family partnerships are an important part of helping every student grow.

We are excited to offer another opportunity for families to connect with Furr! Please join us Thursday evening at 5:30 p.m. for information about becoming a House Helper. Several parents have expressed interest in volunteering, and we are excited to share this opportunity with you and talk about ways you can support our students and Houses. We hope to see you there!

As a reminder, Monday is also a day off for students and staff. I hope everyone enjoys the long weekend and has a chance to rest, recharge, and spend time with family. We’ll see everyone back at school on Tuesday!

🥪 Lunch

Coming to visit for lunch is a great opportunity to connect with our school and your student(s) throughout the year. We ask that parents refrain from visiting during lunch prior to September 8th if possible to allow our students to build friendships and familiarize themselves with routines and procedures.

• Guests must park in the parking lot.
• Guests must be listed in Skyward or with someone who is. Guests must have their ID scanned and given a badge to wear.

📚Dropping off Items at School

Protecting our instructional minutes is of utmost importance and we, therefore, will not make phone calls to the classroom. Parents are welcome to leave items in the front lobby. Please make sure all items are labeled with your child's first and last name as well as their teacher's name. We will ensure the items are delivered to the student.

👟Dress Code

All students are required to follow the Prosper ISD dress code. Students are encouraged to wear closed toe shoes with rubber soles every day for safety reasons. PE requires closed toe shoes for safety as well. Flip Flops are discouraged as they can be a hazard on the playground and in the gym. Please click here to view the PISD dress code.

👩🏻‍⚕️Medication

If your child will need medication administered during school hours, please be advised you will need to drop off medication and fill out the medication form prior to our nurse being able to administer it. Please contact our nurse at 945-678-2900 to schedule a time to drop off the medication and all required documentation.

❗Attendance - PLEASE REVIEW AS THERE HAVE BEEN CHANGES FOR 2026-2027

Doctor’s notes or other supporting documentation for an absence, may be submitted by completing the online Attendance Note Submission form and uploading your documentation within the form. Student's 8-digit ID numbers are required in order to complete the form, and may be found in Skyward Family Access. This process applies to both full-day and partial-day absences. Please note that a parent notification submitted through Skyward Family Access regarding a doctor's visit does not qualify as a doctor's note. Information can also be found on the Furr website.

👏Volunteer

In order to volunteer, you must complete a new Volunteer Background Check each school year.

🚗Early Pick Up

• As part of safety and security measurements, we will not release students after 2:40. Please plan ahead if you need to check your student out early for an appointment and pick them up prior to 2:40pm.
• Students will not be called down ahead of time to wait in the front office. We will call your student down upon your arrival, after we have checked your photo ID.
• Students are only allowed to be picked up by their parent/guardian or an emergency contact listed in Skyward.
• If you plan to pick your child up early, please make sure you have your driver's license with you.

🚌Dismissal Change

• In the event you have a dismissal change, you will need to complete a dismissal change form prior to 2:10pm. This will notify the front office and the teacher will be made aware of the change.
• Do not email your teacher due to there not being a guarantee they will get the message in time. All changes must be made through the front office prior to 2:10pm.
• This form will be open daily from 7:30AM-2:10PM.

Each month at Furr, we highlight a specific character trait to help students grow as leaders and friends. Our morning meetings are designed around this focus, giving students meaningful ways to practice and reflect on it. For September, we’re working on Respect.

At our September HOUSE Assembly, one student from each class will be recognized with an award for consistently demonstrating respect throughout the month. We can’t wait to celebrate their leadership and positive example!

We are excited to bring back our HOUSE Helpers again this year! HOUSE Helpers offers parents/guardians the opportunity to volunteer on HOUSE Assembly Days. If you would like to learn more about it, please join us on September 10th from 5:30pm-6:30pm. Please make sure you have completed your background check so you will be able to volunteer. You can do that here. Those who attend the September 10th info night will be given the opportunity to sign up first! Mark your calendars! We can't wait to see you there!

We are so excited to get the 2026-2027 school year started! Your PTO Board has been busy this last month preparing for this year. We helped welcome the incredible staff back, supported Meet the Teacher, and are hosting Kinder Tears and Cheers!

Mark your calendars for monthly PTO Spirit Nights! These nights are a great way to connect with our school community and give back to our students and staff. Each business gives back a portion of their sales from spirit nights to our campus. Bonus.....you don't have to cook! We can't wait to see you there!

We’re looking for caring, committed adults to serve as mentors to Prosper ISD students. You don’t need to be a counselor or expert—just someone willing to listen, encourage, and show up consistently. Mentors meet with students on campus during the school day in a structured, supportive environment.

As a mentor, you’ll help students feel seen, supported, and inspired to grow into the confident, resilient leaders of tomorrow. We provide all the training and tools—you bring your time and heart.

Volunteer mentors will:

Meet with students monthly, during the school day, for 30 minutes

Build positive relationships rooted in trust and respect

Serve as role models and champions for student success

Help students develop confidence, character, and connection
