This begins my ninth year in Prosper ISD, and my 23rd as an educator. I could not imagine doing anything else. My career began in San Angelo, Texas, with a degree in Early Childhood Education from Angelo State University. I then served as a multi-age teacher for six years helping to build a learning community in the elementary setting. My family relocated to North Texas where I continued in education as a fourth and fifth grade math teacher for eight more years. After earning my Masters in Administration from Texas A&M Commerce, I transferred to Prosper as an Assistant Principal where I learned so much making the transition from teacher to administrator.  This will begin my fifth year at Cockrell, where I have loved the opportunity to grow and foster the school community with teachers, parents and students.

I have been married to a wonderful man, Mike, who has been my biggest support system for 21 years. Our daughter Alyssa, will be a Senior at PHS, and Lane will continue his journey at Rogers Middle School as a seventh grader. I personally enjoy shopping with friends and finding time to read a good book.   As a family, it seems we are always involved with baseball, football, and band activities. We enjoy fishing, riding bikes, and playing golf, but those times seem to get fewer as the kids get older and more involved!

I have witnessed the district's growth and development over the past eight years and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for us all at Prosper ISD.

I am looking forward to serving Cockrell as Assistant Principal for a second year!  Cockrell is full of wonderful kids, families, and staff, and I am so proud to be a Cockrell Champion!  This year we will be "setting the stage for success" as we continue to challenge all of our students to reach their full potential!

My passion for education began while I was growing up with a teacher mom.  Then it was fueled by many great teachers I had in school, like Mr. Aimone who challenged me and fostered my love for algebra!  I have only become more passionate throughout my teaching profession as I have gained experience, not only as a teacher, but as a parent.  I want the best education for my 5 kids and believe every student in the school deserves the same thought, consideration, and respect that I would want for my own children.

I am proud to say that my oldest daughter, Halli, graduated from Prosper High School this spring and is attending Oregon State University as a member of the gymnastics team!  When all of the incoming freshmen athletes took their math placement exams at oregon State, Halli had one of the highest scores!  Thank you Prosper!!!  My son, CJ, will be a senior this year, and I am anxious to see which college he will choose.  We also have a son, Riley, who is a sophomore, a daughter, Bailey, who is a freshman, and a son, Jake, who is in 2nd grade here at Cockrell.  My awesome husband, Colin, and our two dogs, Chief and Benny make our family complete!

My belief that we grow when we are challenged is evident in both my personal and professional life.  As an educator, I believe it is important that we challenge students enough that they experience some degree of struggle.  It is through the struggle that students learn to persevere and accomplish more than they thought was possible!  Personally, I believe in setting goals that challenge me to be my best.  These goals have led me to multiple marathon finish lines (including Boston), an Ironman finish line, and a Masters degree.  My current personal and professional challenge is completing my coursework for my Superintendent Certification which will be accomplished in December.

As we head into the 2016-2017 school year, our challenge is to provide the best educational experience for every child at Cockrell, and we are excited to make it a great year!
