Boyer first graders got a treat on Tuesday when Dr. Ferguson visited them to read, "The Book With No Pictures."

Mrs. Cooper's students kicked off their Debate unit last week by exploring the basics of discourse and practicing how to organize their ideas logically. They created a great foundation for future debates. Keep up the great work!

Students in Mrs. Villani's third grade class collaborated using vertical boards in ELAR this week. They looked at a variety of passages and labeled what the Author's Purpose was for writing the passage. Mrs. Villani said, "They did an amazing job using their resources, finding text evidence to support their reasoning, and working together to share ideas. I am so proud of them!"

Boyer third, fourth and fifth graders loved their visit from author McCall Hoyle. They got to learn the way she writes her books and learned that anyone can be an author. Thank you to the amazing Boyer PTO for sponsoring this incredible opportunity!

These two fifth graders are future published authors! They wrote this amazing non fiction book together. They already have plans for their second book. Way to go girls!

The Boyer library got a refresh this school thanks to our amazing PTO! Thank you for sponsoring the removal of the wall coverings that were falling down, repainting the walls and providing a beautiful new wall covering for our library. We love it! @boyerpto

Miss Harig's fifth graders are ready to test their boats! They used the engineering design process to build boats that can hold 100 pennies without sinking. They will be testing and improving their designs in their next STEAM class.

Second graders in Mrs. McClung's class worked individually or in partners to create contractions in ELAR. They were able to check their work using their anchor charts in their phonics journals. Mrs. McClung said she loved hearing them give one another encouraging feedback!

Mrs. Scott’s 4th graders became scientists today! They used all kinds of tools to discover how to separate mixed-up matter. Separating mixtures = serious science fun!!

Ms. Miller's class participated in Scholastic's StoryVoice last Friday with authors Peter H. Reynolds and Marc M. Colagiovanni sharing their book "The Reflection in Me." After the authors read the story, Peter taught students how to draw the mirror from the story with their own reflection. This book is all about positive self-talk which was perfect on Sept. 12, National Day of Encouragement.

Fourth graders in Mrs. Wade's class worked together using the Round Robin strategy to practice rounding numbers in math last week. What a fun way to work on rounding skills!
