Today's 🌟Calhoun Class Connection🌟is Mrs. Thoren's class. Their students are working together to use objects to tell an addition story. One student is telling while the other is acting it out on the story mat. Then they switch roles. The students enjoy creating their own stories building their language and collaboration skills.

Teacher Appreciation Week starts today! 🍎 All week long we will take time to recognize the educators across Prosper ISD who show up every day and make a difference for our students. Thank you for everything you do — it does not go unnoticed.

Today's 🌟Calhoun Class Connection🌟 is Ms. Robinson's class. Their BeeHive dramatic play center connects directly to our insect unit as students pretend to be beekeepers. As they “collect honey” and care for the hive, they are strengthening fine motor skills, building language through play, and practicing cooperation with their peers. At the honey stand, students use early math skills, including counting how many bees can fit in the hive, while also developing social skills like taking turns and communicating with others. We have also extended this learning into our building center, where students create their own “bee hives,” encouraging creativity and problem-solving through hands-on play.

Today's 🌟Calhoun Class Connection🌟is Ms. Schoppe's class. These little entomologists have been BUSY! During our insect unit we have been exploring the tiny world around us in BIG ways. Through hands-on activities, students are learning to identify different insects, understand their body parts, and discover how they live and help our environment. We are building important skills like counting, sorting, and recognizing beginning sounds while encouraging curiosity and creativity. It’s been so fun watching these little learners think, explore, and grow.

Today's 🌟Calhoun Class Connection🌟is Ms. Stout's class. Their class has been busy learning all about the butterfly life cycle 🐛🦋 They got to experience it up close with live caterpillars—watching them eat and grow, form their chrysalis, and finally emerge as beautiful butterflies! The best part was releasing them and watching them fly away to begin the cycle all over again. Such a magical, hands-on learning experience for our little learners 💛

Today's 🌟Calhoun Class Connection🌟is Mrs. Perry's class. They have been strengthening their fine motor skills by practicing pre-writing strokes in their fine motor journals, helping to build the control and coordination needed for future writing. In our sensory center, they explored insects through hands-on play, sparking curiosity and expanding their vocabulary as they observed and described what they discovered. To extend their learning, students worked together to build insect habitats, encouraging creativity, problem-solving, and a deeper understanding of how living things grow and thrive in their environments.
